Are you off on a small road trip? Or are you planning on flying to a new town but want to avoid having to figure out the public transport system? Either way, it’ll probably take you to one conclusion – it’s time to hire a car!
Rental vehicles can be costly if you’re unfamiliar with how the whole hiring a car thing works and don’t know what to watch out for. So here are three ways to search up a deal that could help you save on the dollars!
· Browse online! Rental companies are rather clever nowadays. They’ve opted to maximise the online medium so no matter where in the world you are, you’d be able to check what cars they have and how to hire them.
All the major details for the cars should be available on their website so ultimately there’s no need for you to visit the actual rental company until you’re there to pick the car up.
· Shop around! A lot of the time rental companies offer special online deals, especially during off-peak seasons and the end of the week for weekend getaways.
Sometimes there may be a small box labelled “promotional code” or “discount code” in the booking area.
· Check with your accommodation.
Sometimes accommodation places work with rental companies to develop travel packages for visitors. E.g. If you’ve booked into a motel, the motel might have a special travellers package such as “2 nights’ accommodation and 3 days car hire” for a certain price.
So when you’ve finally found a great rental vehicle place that is willing to offer you a deal that you just cannot resist, make sure you double check the costs!
If a rate sounds unbelievably low compared to other rental companies, then there are a few things you’ll want to clarify with the company before making the booking. Check if there are “extras” that you might need for pay for or any surcharges or tax fees.
And more importantly, understand all their requirements – e.g. read the boring small font before signing the contract!
